The Governor has stuck it to the Seniors and the poor!!!!!!
After having a meeting with legislators, where he assured them he would not cut these programs anymore -they had already been cut to a devastating level- he wiped out the following with his line-item veto:
The ADCRC(Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center) which supports the local Day Care programs
RCRC
Redwood Caregiver
Resource Center-a program which supports caregivers taking care of their loved ones in their homes. Brain impaired adults-Alzheimer's,
Parkinson's Strokes Etc.
This means laying off Social workers who work with caregivers with resources and information and helps them with planning in their homes. No more home visit and no support to the Adult Day Care programs for respite money.
Linkages, a program of Community Care, which assists low-income seniors to stay in their homes.
Statistics are out that there will be more need for these services than less in the future. Cutting these programs is like telling these people-They are not important. Shame on the
Governor.
